Changing Seasons

While in prayer this morning, the Lord gave me the following verse: "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven." Ecclesiastes 3:1

Winter is hanging around here in the Midwest. We had a winter storm yesterday and it's still snowing. It's March 25!!! Next week is Easter. I can look outside and see the gray skies and the falling snow and think that spring will never get here. Truth is, spring is here!!! We will see the sun and green grass. We will see the blooming flowers. The temperatures will rise.

Sometimes, what we see does not reflect reality. Our circumstances tend to leave us feeling like the "winter" will never end, that we will be stuck inside with no hope of ever seeing the sun again. We cannot go on feelings alone but on the truth that God has set before us in His word. There are seasons we must go through. It is part of the growing process. The Lord wants to do a new work in us, but sometimes we need to let the harsh winds and rain (and snow!) destroy the parts of us that need to be taken out: destructive relationships and behavior, bad attitudes, wrong thinking. Then we can begin to flourish as He intended, allowing us to grow and be fruitful.  "He hath made every thing beautiful in his time." Ecclesiastes 3:11
